AYOOO FOLEY IN PROGRESS

Hello people that like to read about my point of view! Today I focused on working on the sound of my production, specifically, the non-diegetic one. I don't know if you guys remember, but in like 2 or 3 posts before, I was discussing either to use a Shepard tone or just a regular sound I found in the internet.  The thing is that I did not find any Shepard tone or sound that really matched with what I wanted, so I decided to create it myself. The sound I was looking for was a ticking sound that was progressively growing. I got the sound that I wanted with just two scissors and my microphone. While I was doing this, I encountered with the problem of the timing of the scissors. It was pretty hard to find the right timing plus finding the right timing of the consistently rising ticking. I might have to re-record the sound because it does not fully convince me, but at least we have something.

Well that is all for today blog!

AYOOO FIRST REAL PROGRESS

Hello people that like to read about my point of view! Today I have the footage for the scene I was scared the most, the superspeed scene. I was worried not because of the setting or the filming of it but the post production for it. I kind of struggled while making the effect, but at the end, it came up pretty good in my opinion.

AYOOO AN UPDATE

Hello people that like my point of view! This is a quick post just to update you in the process of my project. First of all, I finally started my recordings this morning. I recorded the first Two shots that I talked about in my last post and I also recorded the first scene where the character is in the frame. Still need two more shots to make the introduction of my character better without him being in the frame. In other topics, I’m kind of having a pre problem, since I haven’t put up the shots together, but it’s with the smoothness of the transition from the introductory shots to the shots of the first shot where the character is in frame. I feel that the transition will not feel natural at the moment where I put it in edition. However I will have to see since I'm not sure how it would be when I put it all together. To close up, I just wanted to let y'all know that I am changing one of the scene, the family one in specific. Zooming into the character however I decided to change it from the camera zooming out from the character since it would be a smoother transition from the scene.

Well blog that’s it for today. I hope you enjoyed my post.

AYOOO SOME NEW SHOTS

Hello people that like my point of view!So I decided to make some changes to my Cambridge portfolio this week. The changes I decided to do were in the beginning shots.Basically what I'm going to change, or better said added, to my portfolio project is that the beginning shots are going to consist of various shots that will pan and tilt respectively. Thedo planning for this shot is to better describe the aspects of the life of the main character in a better way since it'll be more direct due to the fact that I'm actually showing those factors that make his life “good”.

The introductory shot of the piece will consist of a mid shot tilting up In order to show a photo framed collage. This shot would illustrate a more in depth way the role of the relationship of Nacho, the main character, with his friends. After this shot, there would be a mid shot that would pan to the right showing many pictures of Nacho’s family. This would as well be made to show the relationship of Nacho and his family and the factor that plays on his life. I am still thinking about more things that I could use to show the factors of Nacho’s life that Don't really require him to be on frame to show them.

Well blog that’s it for today. I hope you enjoyed my post and have a great spring break.

AYOOO SOUND

Hi people are like my point of view! today I decided that I wanted to show you what I was thinking to do with the sound of the video of my Cambridge portfolio project. Knowing that my portfolio probably wasn't going to use that much of a sound, so I wanted it to be really meaningful and powerful for my piece. The song that I want to use for my peace will be a non-diegetic sound for most of the piece, since the other sound that it will be on the piece is little conversation and some sound effect.

Even though I decided that I wanted to use a non-diegetic sound for most of my video I'm still debating whether to use a shepard tone or the sound of a ticking clock. Both, the Shepard tone and the ticking clock would have a meaning behind the sound , which would be the never ending cycle the character feels he is in. I am debating whether I should do an ascending sound, meaning that it starts slow and as it goes up, gets louder and quicker, then there is a point where it breaks. The breaking point will symbolize the desire of Nacho, the main character, of breaking out of that monotonous routine which he lives in and start looking for something that brings him the joy he wants.

AYOOO MORE RESEARCH

Hi people that like my point of view! Today, I wasn't planning in doing that much of a research nor doing anything related to the Cambridge portfolio. However, what I did today was something that I'd call research by nature, and thank god it happened because if not, I'd have lost points for the weekly posts.. Basically, today I got out of work and when I got home I did one of my favorite things watch video essays on YouTube about shows I would probably will never watch. The thing is that one video led to the other, and that video lead to other and I ended up in the video The Ultimate Guide to Camera Movement by Studiobinder.

The video by Studiobinder expanded upon the explanation of the purposes of the 15 types of camera movements that are used in the current media industry. Out of the 15 camera movements the video showcased, I focused more on the ones I could use for my Cambridge portfolio project, which were the zoom, the static, and the push in. As for the static, I could implement it on my project as to demonstrates that the character is trapped in his situation, in my case, the mental situation. As for the push in, I would implement to show the internal conflict that my character has on him, to draw attention to his inner thoughts and desires. And last but not least, the zoom, more specific, a zoom out. I'd probably implement the zoom in my piece with the solely to showcase the context of the situation where the character is situated. Well, that is all for today blog, have a good night!

AYOOO CHALLENGES

Hi people that love and enjoy my point of view! So today I decided that I was going to start the filming for my portfolio. I was planning to call my cousin in order for her to help me to film since I am my own director and main character; however, what I did not plan was that she was going to Orlando for the weekend. This led me to having to record it myself and be on the frame at the same time. This, as I expected, did not work very well, even though I had a tripod that Mrs. Stoklosa gave me. The few shots that I tried to do were horrible. As matter of fact, this led me to realize that I need someone to be my main character that is not me, someone I can fully rely on, someone that I know what they are doing at any time. The perfect candidate for this is my younger brother. I think he is a perfect fit since we live under the same roof, has a lot of free time, and he owes me a favor so there is nothing that could go wrong.

To be honest, I am kind of scared since I have not made that much of a progress. My progress has been so slow. I am hoping that we are about to start spring break I will be able to make more progress since I will be having so much free time. I have not been the best person managing my time for this big project, I'm doing my best. To close up, now that I'm thinking about it, I don't know if my brother is the best fit for the cast since there are a lot of shot that are not alone and will be kind of an issue to gather that much people just to shoot instead of like a friend gathering or something. I might ask a friend to be my main character, but I'm not sure. Well that is all for today!

AYOOO THE GEAR ARRIVED

Hi people that enjoy my point of view. Today, the camera I talked about in like two previous posts arrived, and I could not be more excited about it. It is a Canon Rebel T1I. I am planning on getting a new SD card since the one I got it's just 2gb, so it will not help that much for the project. I am also planning in asking Mrs. Stoklosa for a tripod in order for my shot to be still when I need them and to have kind of more freedom at the moment I need a shot with a smooth movement. In addition, I'm thinking of using a microphone that I bought like two months ago (it was for a podcast I am planning to make) in order to record the audio of my piece. The problem is that the microphone is not directly compatible with the camera since the camera does not have a USB port to connect the microphone. I am still thinking about how to incorporate the microphone; however, if it doesn't work, I will have to use my phone as a microphone, something that I didn't really want to do, but if it is what I need, I guess I'll have to. Well blog, that is all for today!

AYOOO TITLE

Hi again people that like my point of view! Today I will be presenting you my title and the logo for it. Soooooooo, param param, the title of my film is Emotionless.

I would say it is pretty fresh, pretty simplistic, and pretty explanatory for the theme of the film.

As in two or three posts ago, I think, I'm going to be explaining the logo for my film for Cambridge and Mrs. Stoklosa's purposes. To start of, I chose to use a sharp font in order to illustrate the kind of monotony of Nacho's life throughout the film as he feels the same towards every situation. Then, the big O on the title represents that something that Nacho feels he needs in his life, something that will really bring him joy. Regarding the name of the production, Fresh, was just named liked that since it is a word that I always say I wanted the logo to have a touch of mine. Regarding the font for it, I decided to just use the same as the title of it just changing the thin stroke to make it look cleaner. Regarding the colors, for the background, I decided to use a gray-ish tone since it was the color that I related the most with not feeling anything. To close up, for the actual text I chose a black-ish blue in order to illustrate the little hope that the character has to find that thing that brings him the joy. I chose a color that blends with black just to exhibit that there is that little hope of finding something that really fulfills him.

AYOOO SUPERSPEED EDITING

Hi people that like to read about my point of view. Today I will be going over how am I planning to make the superspeed look good in the shots I need. Throughout the whole week I looked up videos about how to make super speed effects on Adobe Premiere Pro, the software that I have.

I filtered the best tutorial that I thought looked the most realistic and “easier” to replicate. The tutorial I watched was How to create a super speed effect in Adobe Premiere Pro by Icosa Studios. The main things this tutorial stated that were needed were a tripod to maintain the camera still and good steady lightning for the shots to not look like jump cuts. For the effect to work, there is the need of a plain shot of the background and the shot where the character is, obviously. Then, you need to select the acted shot and cut with the razor where the effect is going to start. After that, we frame hold the clip we just cut, then, you select the pen tool and draw a mask around where you want the effect. Consequently, to that clip you add the transform effect. Then, we proceed to move the position of what was selected on the clip until it is out of frame. After that, in that clip, we apply the directional blur and set the direction of it to 90 degrees since the character runs horizontally. To close up, to get a realistic motion blur, it must be set to 160 degrees.

AYOOO STORYBOARD ALERT

Hi people that like to read about my point of view. I’m here to tell you guys two things, the first one being that I did not follow my shooting schedule at all this week, and the second one, the good one, is that I started my storyboard for the portfolio project, anddddddd I have pictures😎. Also, useless information, but on Monday the camera I ordered arrives and I’m planning on using it on my project. My only issue with it is that it is kind of old, it is a Canon TI1 from 2009, and according to my research it films in 1080 at 24 fps which is not that great; however, it does film in 720 at 30 fps, so I guess that is ok.

THE LAST DANCE: My Creative Reflection

This is my last blog post ever (I think) about the portfolio project with the amazing band we found, Pluto, and my dawgs Ana and Lander. It...
